David was an inventor. He spent many years working on his greatest project: a time machine. He wanted to see the world in different times—meet great kings, discover lost civilizations, and understand how the world changed over the centuries. Finally, one late night, after many failures, his machine was ready.
David stepped into the time machine and set the dial to the year 1890. He pressed the big red button, and suddenly, everything around him became a blur of lights and colors. When the machine stopped, David found himself in an old city. The streets were filled with horse-drawn carriages, people wearing long coats and hats, and shops selling goods that looked ancient to him.
“This is amazing,” David whispered to himself. He walked around, watching the people, smelling the fresh bread from the bakery, and listening to the sounds of the past. But something felt strange. People were looking at him as if he didn’t belong.
Suddenly, a man approached David. He was wearing a black suit and a top hat. “Excuse me, sir,” the man said, “Are you lost?”
“No, I’m not lost,” David replied, trying to act normal. “I’m just visiting.”
The man looked at David’s clothes—jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt. “You’re not from here, are you?” he asked suspiciously.
David realized his mistake. He forgot to change his clothes before traveling back in time! Now everyone could see he didn’t belong. Before he could explain, a group of men arrived. They looked strong and carried sticks. “He must be a spy!” one of them shouted.
David started to panic. He turned around and ran as fast as he could. He dodged through the narrow streets, pushed past people, and didn’t stop until he reached the place where he had hidden his time machine. Quickly, he jumped inside and pressed the button to return to his own time.
When he arrived back home, David was sweating and breathing hard. “I need to be more careful next time,” he said, laughing at himself. He sat down and thought about his adventure. It wasn’t what he expected, but it was exciting.
David learned an important lesson that day: if you want to travel in time, you must always be prepared. And who knows? Maybe one day he’ll try again—this time, with the right clothes.
