Last Saturday, Emma and her husband, David, wanted to do something different. They usually spent weekends at home, watching TV or cleaning the house. But this time, Emma said,
“David, let’s go to the mountains! We need fresh air and some adventure.”
David smiled. He was a little tired from work, but he agreed. Early in the morning, they packed a small bag. They put sandwiches, water, a camera, and warm jackets inside. The weather was sunny, but in the mountains, it could be cold.
They drove for two hours. The road was quiet, and the trees were green. Emma opened the window and felt the cool wind on her face. “This feels amazing,” she said.
When they arrived, they started walking on a small trail. Birds were singing, and the air smelled fresh. They walked slowly, talking about their dreams and plans. David told Emma that he wanted to start painting again. Emma shared that she wanted to learn how to play the piano.
After one hour, they reached a small lake. The water was blue, and the sun was shining on it like a mirror. They sat on the grass, ate their sandwiches, and took pictures. Emma laughed when David tried to take a selfie with a squirrel behind him.
Later, they rented a small boat and rowed across the lake. Emma felt happy and free. She looked at David and said, “This is better than watching TV.”
David laughed and answered, “Yes, this is real life.”
When the sun started to go down, they drove back home. Both of them were tired but smiling. That night, before sleeping, Emma whispered, “Let’s do this again next month.”
David kissed her forehead and said, “Of course. Life is short. We need more weekends like this.”
